When’s the last time you were photographed? A headshot counts, but when’s the last time you were photographed for a portrait you planned to frame and hang on a wall?
There’s something special about imagining a portrait, bringing it to life, and then finally stepping back to see it hanging in its place. It’s more than just a picture - it’s a reminder of how special you are.
That’s why I’m excited about The Bloom Edit next week. We designed it to become a piece of art that lives in your home for years to come.
About 10 years ago, I hired a photographer for an experience similar to the one I offer in my studio. It was eye-opening to be in the shoes of a client. Shopping for clothes, deciding how I wanted my hair & makeup, and trusting someone else to help me pose and relax - it showed me how vulnerable it can feel.
It’s no wonder so many people put it all off. There are so many little decisions to cause friction that “someday” feels easier than doing it now. Add a partner or kids to the mix, and it’s an even bigger production.
But when it’s over and your portrait is hanging on the wall, you don’t think about the friction.
Instead, you think about how glad you are that you followed through. Every day, you see yourself in art and it changes the story you tell about yourself.
