La and I had talked about heading downtown to check out her piece on display at the 4Culture Gallery in Pioneer Square. It’s a lousy March Wednesday, there's nothing on the calendar, and it’s raining. I just needed to extract her from a meeting at the coffee shop that was already running two hours over.

As I walked up I saw La and her friend Renee talking and laughing out front. I gave Renee the “shhh” sign as I snuck up and frightened La in a way that would usually mean I had to run for my life. Luckily I only got a pretend kick and didn’t even get maced this time.

On our way home to grab the car and head downtown, we stopped off at the A1 Hop Shop for beer. It was as empty as you’d expect at 2pm on a Wednesday but they had The World Baseball Classic on TV and since we’re positively starved for baseball, we decided to chill at the bar for a pint. And there perished our hopes for Pioneer Square. With bellies full of beer and carrying two souvenir six packs home, we decided we’d save the 4Culture exhibit for another day.
