Hello
It's all a panicky blur. There was a single pleather couch, memorial photographs of long-gone pets, tall ceilings that made us feel utterly insignificant, and that vague antiseptic odor that only exists at the 24 hour emergency vet. Odin was in bad shape. He was breathing shallow and fast.
We didn't know it yet but while in a deep sleep on the sofa he had inhaled a bit of acid reflux. Aspirational Pneumonia. He could barely breathe.
While we waited three hours for the vet to see him, I found myself overwhelmed by dog dad thoughts. I'm gonna take him for longer walks. We'll go to the dog park more. I won't pull his head out of the dishwasher, he can lick all the plates he wants. Please not tonight. Not yet.
A week before we photographed him while testing out new gear. He'd been such a good sport about the whole thing and La had made some really cool photos of him. No matter what happened that night, at least we had that.
After lots of rest and a gigaton of antibiotics, I'm relieved to say he's doing way better. You probably figured out what I'm gonna say next. If you're looking at your dog or cat or bearded dragon right now and thanking your lucky stars that things are normal and ok, it's a perfect time to book a session for your beloved knucklehead.
Thanks,
