ABOUT KENNETH SHOWELL

Kenneth L. Showell (1939 -1997) was an American painter known for his abstract paintings in the style of Lyrical Abstraction.

Kenneth Showell studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and moved to New York in 1965. In 1967 and 1969, he took part in two group exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art. In 1969, he presented his work in a solo exhibition at the David Whitney Gallery in New York. From 2006 to 2008, his paintings were featured in the exhibition “High Times, Hard Times: New York Painting 1967–1975” at the Neue Galerie Graz and at the Center for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe.

His works are included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
