Hello
Have you ever watched someone renovate a house before they move in? Our neighbors recently sold their home, and the new owners have been working on it ever since. Every time I see that handyman truck in the driveway, I wonder, "Are they ever gonna move in?”
But if you've ever painted a room with all your furniture in the way, you know they're doing it right. It's a lot easier to make good decisions when you have room to think, instead of trying to work around everything later. Good planning doesn’t slow things down; it makes everything that comes afterward easier.
Our portrait consultations are the same. A lot of people assume they're mostly about outfits or color choices. We do talk about those things, but they're just details. The real purpose is to make a plan that's built around you, so we can get the best results later.
Before we ever get to your session, we'll talk about your family, your home, how you want your portraits to feel, and how you'll enjoy seeing them every day. Then we design the session around that vision.
My favorite thing to hear during a consultation is, “Oh… I never thought of that!”
I hear it all the time, and it means we're on the right track.
You don't need me to hand you a list of decisions to make and wish you luck. My job is to guide you through the process so you don't have to figure it all out on your own. That’s why the consultation is the first step.
By the time your session rolls around, you won’t be wondering if you're making the right decisions. You'll simply get to enjoy being photographed, because we already did all the planning work together.
Great portraits don't begin with a camera. They begin with a plan.
Warmly,
