Hello everyone, I’m Art, Studio Manager here at Lara Grauer Photography.

Last month we found out that someone had unsubscribed from our monthly newsletter. It was only one person, not a big deal, but Lara and I got to talking about it and we realized that once we send out our newsletter, neither of us reads it.

We reached out to a few past customers and they said they never read it. We mentioned this to our marketing guy and he didn’t even know there was a newsletter.

We dug a little more and found that no one involved in the writing our newsletter enjoys putting it together. The consensus is that the newsletter is an un-fun, boring, awful chore.

I’m not sure how this happens but in my long storied career working in various salt mines, when I point out an issue, I’m immediately nominated to fix it. Sort of a “he who smelt it, dealt it” kind of deal.

So here I am, writing the dreaded August Studio Newsletter. If I play my cards right, it’ll be the last time. (Someone circled the word “dreaded” and put a line through it, but hey’re probably not gonna read this, so I’m leaving it in.)

In other vaguely studio related news - August 16th is my birthday. Typically I prefer Legos, GI Joe, and Star Wars stuff but with each passing year I find that booze and beer are becoming more and more desirable as gifts. I’m not sure if this change is a result of being the manager of a photography studio or a symptom of Old Mannington’s Disease. Either way, happy birthday to me.
